How to upgrade to Spotify Premium

Here are some ways to upgrade your Spotify account for a premium listening experience.

There are a few tiers available for creating a Spotify account, but most people will agree that Premium is the best (and most cost-effective) way to listen.

If you are planning to upgrade from a free Spotify account, read on to find out how you can upgrade and if you can lower the monthly fee to Premium a bit.

How to upgrade to Spotify Premium

You can choose from several different subscriptions, depending on the number of people who will be accessing the service and whether you are a student.

Also, keep in mind that you can no longer change your plan through the Spotify mobile app. So you will have to open the Spotify website to make changes.

Whether or not you are a new or existing user, here are the steps you need to take if you want to upgrade to Premium.

  1. Open and sign in to the Spotify site
  2. Click on your profile picture in the upper right corner
  3. Press “Account” in the drop-down menu
  4. A new tab will open, click on “Available plans” in the side menu
  5. Click on the “Select” button on the new plan to which you wish to subscribe
  6. Click on ‘Change plan’ at the bottom of the screen
  7. Depending on your original plan, a page will appear asking for your card details. Fill out this form and press “Confirm payment” to finalize the process

As you can see in the photo above, this is what it will look like when you switch plans on Spotify. It will let you know when your subscription starts and when you will be billed.

Which Spotify subscriptions can I choose?

There are six different plans on Spotify, including the free version.

There’s Spotify Premium, which is the basic Premium plan and costs £ 9.99 per month. If you are a student, you can take advantage of the Premium for Students plan, which costs £ 5.99 per month, making it cheaper than other subscriptions.

There are also options if more than one of you wish to register; Spotify Premium Duo and Spotify Premium Family cost £ 13.99 and £ 16.99 respectively and allow more accounts to access Premium, making it more profitable.
