Spotify Expands Internal Podcasts – Check Out This And Control The Mic
Spotify launches two new podcasts aimed at industry professionals.
Last year, the streaming giant launched the For the Record podcast, featuring interviews with executives, employees and industry experts. Now, the company is expanding its in-house podcast strategy with two new shows – Discover This and Mic Check.
Spotify: Discover This arrives October 14 and will include information on music, podcasting, cultural moments and trends, according to the company. The podcast will feature a mix of music, artist interviews and other surprise content. The first episode takes a look at the evolution of country music and features some emerging artists in the genre.
Another new Spotify podcast is Mic Check, which will connect creators with fans through intimate conversations with musicians and podcasters around the world. Each episode will focus on exclusive recordings and personal stories of the featured artists and podcasters.
Spotify is also launching the third season of its For the Record podcast later this month. For the Record gives listeners a behind-the-scenes look at Spotify with a discussion of revenue reports, product launches, and business updates. Spotify says For the Record will be the “only” place to hear some business updates.
“We want to tell stories in a way that is uniquely Spotify and probably unsurprisingly, we think audio provides the perfect medium,” said Dustee Jenkins, head of global communications for Spotify.
“As a company, we strive to bring creators and fans together, and our podcasts contribute to that ambition. By moving from a three-segment podcast with distinct audiences, we can ensure that the stories we tell and the topics we cover reach the people who care about them the most.
For the most part, Spotify has broken the For the Record podcast content into more streamlined shows. Spotify says it’s because what catches the ears of creators and the entertainment industries is different from the lifestyle and consumer trends industry. Spotify hopes to capture the separate attention of each audience with a tailored podcast for each.
